The Olympics is a lot of fun to watch, and it’s always fascinating watching the best athletes in their fields compete on the world stage. Which event do you think is the most impressive?

While it’s undoubtedly true that these world-class athletes are extremely talented, they also rely on their equipment to help them get the most out of their performance.

Have you ever considered how every Olympic sport besides swimming requires their athletes to have footwear built to purpose to help them gain the advantage over their opponents?

The shoes make the athlete

When you look at Usain Bolt’s running shoes, you’ll notice the grippy spikes that cover the toe and heel sections of the sole to give him traction when he’s sprinting down the track.

If you take a look at the shoes wrestlers use for their sport, you’ll notice how they’re made of a light mesh to give their wearer full mobility as they grapple with their opponents. The shoes fencers wear have a similar construction that allow them to always be nimble on their feet.

While it may be considered very different to the conventional Olympic sports that were played in ancient Greece long ago, so too does golf require its players to wear footwear built for purpose.

The same applies to golf

It could be a total disaster for a sprinter, wrestler, or fencer to have even the slightest slip on their feet when they’re engaged in their sport, and the same applies to golf.

As we all know, performing a golf shot requires a lot of focus and dedication, and if one of your feet slip on the grass as you’re bringing your club down in your backswing, you’re going to mess up your shot. Some days, all it can take is one bad shot to throw you off your game and put you in a negative mindset.

Another thing to consider is that golf naturally covers a lot of land. While a sprinter makes their way around a track, and a wrestler covers the same area in their arena, golf courses cover thousands of yards, and you can be playing your shots on multiple terrain, including grass, mud, and sand.

You therefore need golf shoes that are up to the task of getting you in the zone and feeling comfy for hours at a time on different kinds of surfaces, and we have just the thing.

Coming in close second

Another fantastic shoe offering from Skechers is the Vortex slip-in. This shoe has a really unique design that does away with traditional laces in favour of a Twist Fit dial. Simply place your feet in the shoe and twist the dial to find your ideal fit, and un-twist again to loosen.

With Skechers’ Arch Fit insole tucked inside the shoe, you can also guarantee that the Vortex Slip-ins will keep you feeling comfy and energized as you make your way around the golf course. There are five dedicated spikeless studs on the sole that will keep you grounded and firm as you strike through your ball.
